While this agreement sounds too good to be true, be careful of the conditions for your departure.

I signed an agreement sometime ago regarding the same situation and I got burned. The agreement stated "WHEN" I moved out and delivered the keys to the landlord... I will receive $$$ for my moving expenses and early termination of my lease. Of course I had to move with my money before that certain date, and deliver the keys to the landlord.

Well, what happened was that I did not move, because of financial limitations and finding an acceptable home, I was evicted for promising to move by a certain date by signing this agreement. At the time I did not know that I accelerated the eviction process and was forced to move out without giving me a chance to look for another apartment.

Most housing court judges allow a person to stay an eviction for a period of 3 to 6 months after the landlord brings a hold over proceeding.
