I recently won the final DHCR/court battle against my LL for illigally charging me extra security. The process took almost ten years. Now how do I collect my award plus 8 years of interest. I was told by DHCR that I am entitled to 9% per year but they did not say if the interest is simple or compounded or what formula to use for calculating the interest. Does anyone have any idea what the correct formula is? and do I deduct my current rent from the amount owed until is all paid out? I really don't want to pay november rent until I know how to proceed. Thanks in advance for your insights.
