There is a sidewalk shed in front of my building in Manhattan whose permit expired in Dec 99. I have filed several complaints re: this shed with the Dept. of Buildings and violations have been issued. Recently a trial was held but I was told the building owner did not show up. The Dept. tells me that they will continue to fine the owner until the shed is removed, but he doesn't seem to pay the fines or care that he is continually fined. I am looking for info on what recourse I have to force the shed removal. Obviously the fines are not sufficient to force the landlord into action. Thanks.
