Thanks for those comments Mike.

Its also interesting to read what these anti-gentrification people propose: more housing projects, more buracrats, more regulations. NYC has plenty of these already, and they do not improve housing one bit. Housing projects and HPD-owned buildings are the worst housing in the city, in terms crime, grime, and outright safety violations. Regulations have brought us the most expensive housing in the country. These activists have a lot of contempt for the people in the neighborhoods where they are protesting.

: - Increased average income
: - Increased tax base (both income and property)
: - Construction of new housing and renonvation / better maintenance of existing housing
: - Increased activity for local business.
: - Decrease in crime

: I'm sick of people complaining about neighborhoods improving.
