: I guess you feel that you are the "landlord", so to speak, of the forum, and as such you are entitled to make decisions as to who may post here or not.

"Landlord" is not the right term -- you aren't a "tenant" here. But forums anywhere are moderated, and have rules. Loose or tight, there are still rules.

: While this is your right, I suggust you consider all of the relevant facts before you just evict someone off the board, or worse still, post a message at the top of the board asking that people ignore posts by Richard.

We thought long and hard before taking either of these actions. This is not the first time Richard has needed a reminder.

: I think the value of a forum like this is that people can ask questions, view various answers each reflecting a slightly different point of view, and, by applying common sense, choose the wisest course of action.

Your right, and we don't take such action simply if someone disagrees. When we set up this board, we wanted a place for intelligent discourse, and differences of opinion are welcome (even from landlords) as long as what they say is honest and furthers the goals of the board: to help fellow tenants, and to maintain ssome level of intelligence in the discussion. For better or worsse, we are the arbiters of that.

Some of the questions posted here reflect a lack of common sense by the person asking, or involve problems caused or agrevated by the questioner himself. It is normal that such a question may be met with derision by other members of this forum.

Not all tenants come from the same level of knowledge and experience, so you will get some "stupid" questions, but that is why the board exists -- to educate people. There are ways to explain to an uneducated tenant that they might have other options, or might themselves be the cause of the problem, without berating them. And Richard ha a long history of going overboard and treating people with derision.

: So tenant net -- please don't "evict" Richard from this forum. And please treat him with the same courtesy you expect from him (drop that message asking people to ignore his posts).

We may have to change it as he's using a different (and fake) email, but as there's a large percentage of time he is just giving bad advice, we'll keep it up.
