What if the building you're in changes hands three times in one year and somehow they were not forthcoming with a copy of your original lease or handed you something that is NOT the original lease, let alone NOT give you information on your security deposit (as in, WHERE is it?). Do you have a right to this info and is the landlord in the right to not give you this info?

As far as a paintjob, I NEVER got one, although I asked for one right before I moved in and was told to take the apartment AS IS or get a rent increase for it on the spot, (the previous tenant had lived there for 25 years and the apartment needed some sprucing) even though later on i found the rent had been increased from the previous tenant's amount anyways .
