You have no lease; your tenancy can be terminated by either you or your landlady on 30 days notice. Starting an argument with her sons was not a good idea. And the landlady's family arrangements are irrelevant and none of your business. Perhaps the sons are avoiding you because they do not want further confrontations; they seem to have a maturity that you lack.

You have several other issues going on in your life now; do you want to add a housing court battle to your list of stresses ? You are smart to attempt to make amends with your landlady now. Yes, she can raise your rent on 30 day notice; and I doubt she views your disability check as her concern. Also, interest on security deposits applies only to dwellings with 6 or more residences. Assuming there is no damage or unpaid rent, you will get the deposit back but nothing more.
