WE MOVED INTO OUR APARTMENT ON JULY 4TH DUE TO DESPERATION, WITHOUT ALL THE CONSTRUCTION BEING COMPLETED. WE HAD NOT STOVE AND WITHIN A WEEK, NO BATHROOM. WE HAD TO USE THE BATHROOM OF THE VACANT APARTMENT NEXTDOOR. AT ONE POINT AFTER GUTING OUR BATHROOM, THEY COMPLETELY GUTED THE BATHROOM NEXTDOOR, LEAVING US WITHOUT EVEN A TOILET TO USE. UP UNTIL ABOUT AUGUST 26TH DID WE NOT HAVE A FULL FUNCTIONING APARTMENT. THE SIX UNIT BUILDING IS OWNED BY A COUPLE AND THEIR DAUGHTER. I ASKED THE DAUGHTER, WHO LIVES IN THE BUILDING IF WE COULD DEDUCT SOME RENT DUE TO THE FACT THAT CONSTRUCTION WORKERS WERE IN AND OUT OF OUR APARTMENT FOR OVER A MONTH AND A HALF, AT TIMES LETTING THEMSELVES IN WITHOUT GIVING US A CHANCE TO ANSWER THE DOOR. SHE ASKED HER MOTHER ABOUT THIS AND HER MOTHER AGREED THAT HALF OF ONE MONTHS RENT WOULD BE A FAIR REDUCTION. ON SEPTEMBER 5TH I LEFT A CHECK FOR HALF A MONTHS RENT UNDERNEAH THE DOOR OF THE DAUGHTER'S APARTMENT. I HAVE JUST RECEIVED A NOTE THAT THE FATHER WILL ACCEPT NOT LESS THAN A $25 REDUCTION DUE TO THE INCONVENIENCE, IS THAT LEGAL? DO WE HAVE LEGAL RIGHTS TO DEMAND MORE OF A REDUCTION? WHERE OR WHO CAN I TALK TO ABOUT THIS? PLEASE HELP!!!!!
