I live in a building in Yonkers, half rent controlled, half coop. Of course my unit is a coop. I received my rent renewal with an increase of 12% which I can't afford, it stated I had 60 days to reply. The 6o days has not yet expired, but I will be forced to move, so I have not yet payed my rent for September . The Lanlord NEVER gives back the security deposit and my unit is in excellent condition. Today I received 2 harassing phone calls from landlord demanding September rent. I have always paid my rent on time during the 4 years I have been here, and am a single mother with a young child. What can the LL do to me?
