Will,

People get rejected on rental applications. It is a very valid reason
to reject someone who does not have evidence of a lengthy
payment history. And a twenty one year old's payment
history is going to be very limited. I have known older tenants still
in thier twenties who have had to have quarantors because of their age.
Like it or not this is the real world.

Even car insurance companies prejudice against younger males
because they are a statistical risk.

And I will repeat, I know rental agents who deliberately reject
borderline cases (Someone who is very young, for instance, and
no quarantor) just to see how they react to the situation. Jonathan's
first reaction was to start yelling about filing claims and pontificating
about the landlord's illegal behavior. NOW if the landlord would have
wanted to reconsider Jonathan's application it is not likely they would
even touch it with a ten foot pole after his immediate over reaction.

And I will also say again, DO NOT COMPARE BEING YOUNG TO
BEING TREATED IN A SEXIST OR RACIST MANNER!! The comparison
is an offense to women and minorities that have suffered at the hand of such
things. Particularly when we are probably talking about an affluent white male
who will in time get older.

Jonathan has probably already found a new place, and exhausted his anger
over this minor matter, but here we are still talking about a kids knee-jerk
reaction to rejection.

Kerry
