If you are in New York City, then the law states that he MUST give you a receipt for payment by a certified check. It must contain his name, title, what the check is for, the amount and his signature.

: My landlord would not take a personal check from me anymore due to two bounced chacks in the past. Does he have the right to do this? PLEASE HELP!
