You had better find cheaper housing that you can afford.

When you took your apartment you agreed to its rent. It is your
responsibility to budget your monthly expenses and income so that you can
pay your rent on time.

The fact that your landlord may have let other tenants "slide" in their
payments is not relevant in a legal sense. Nor is it legally relevant that
you have kids. To expect a landlord to make exceptions for this is akin to
asking a restaurant to let you leave a table after a meal without paying.
Providing for your family is your responsibility, not your landlord's.

This stated, you are best off looking into ALL options available to you right now -- don't wait until you are before a judge or for the sherif to arrive to think about what you will do next. Contact the social services department of your county (look in the blue pages of your phone book). Ask about section 8, low income housing, emergency shelters, school lunches. Inquire about credit counselling and budgeting help so that you and your husband can learn to manage your money better. Definetly get prepared.
