Stuy Town Eviction

Posted by MD on July 28, 2000 at 15:54:38:

My girlfriend is getting evicted from her apartment in Stuyvesant Town (on the basis that the apartment is in her parents' names, not hers, and they have never lived there.) (Stuyvesant Town is a rent stabilized housing community/complex built in New York in the 1940s, owned by Met Life.) If she fails to clear out by the appointed date, what could the possible repurcussions be? Could they/would they potentially sue her if she remained in the apartment for even one extra month? She's contacted a lawyer who says that they might, though he was somewhat vague.. I'd appreciate all second opinions on this matter. Thanks.
