I live in the Bronx, and need to break my lease to move to a safer building. Over a year ago I was robbed in my home-the perpatrator came through the bedroom window while I was asleep. Since then (despite therapy) I have not been comfortable in my house.

I have searched for this past year off and on for an apartment that I can afford in an area that I would like to live in and I have finally found one.
I would like to move. Please advise me how to go about breaking this lease, as I have already begun applying for this new apartment. I am thinking that I will move in on Sept 1. My current lease doesn't expire until August of 2001.
