No Fee Places using New Tactics to Scam you again

Posted by Afron on May 16, 2000 at 16:59:14:

People, please beware. These No Fee Places are now saying that they are "Referral Agencies". Referring what? They refer you information that someone else has already listed way in advance. They copy someone else's listing and place it in their own listing. Prime targets for these classified ads are Village Voice, Daily News and NY Post. I am sure that other newspapers will accept their "Advertisements" as well.

All apartment hunters, beware. Keep informed and ask questions. Check to see if they are licensed and look around. When I first went to NY No Fee (Has changed their name to something else and relocated), I felt that they were weird. I didn't follow my instinct and I was duped. Please, follow your instinct and use your smarts. These places are out to get your money. There are some legit companies like www.Nofee.com but for the most part, most of them are scams. Keep in touch and post information that can help other people avoid this con game. If we work together and share info, these places won't be able to do to us what they think they can. Happy Hunting!
