The Rent Guidelines Board's website (http://www.housingnyc.com) used to have an FAQ section which gave very detailed information about several areas of housing law. The FAQ area is now Under Construction and won't be available until Fall 2000.

However, you can still access this link, Roommate Issues & Leases, for information about your situation. Although the title refers to roommates, co-tenant issues are also addressed.

: My uncle (primary tenant) and his daughter (co-tenant) live in a NY rent
: stabilized apartment and both signed the lease. If the co-tenant leaves the
: apartment, under what circumstances I can replace her and co-sign the new
: lease.

: I would greatly appreciate any information on the above matter.

: Sincerely,

: Leonid
