If your lease doesn't have a provision for late fees, the landlord can't charge late fees.

If your apartment is rent stabilzed, the landlord can't add a late fee provision to a renewal lease if there was none in the original lease.

: May a landlord charge a late fee for rent? The original lease has not been updated. There is no mention of late fees being imposed.
