Slanderous Remark Made by Current Landlord to Prospective Landlord

Posted by Penny on April 10, 2000 at 14:17:34:

I live in the Albany, NY area in an apartment complex of 200+ units. I've lived there for two years and am not renewing my lease this summer. The landlord of my new apartment called the apartment complex manager (with whom I have personal issues not related to my residence) for a reference and was told that I have been "consistently 30 days past due" with my rent since I've lived there. So the new landlord called the company who owns the complex and found out the truth. I have a hard copy spreadsheet from them showing two years of on-time payments. What recourse do I have?
