Certified, return receipt should suffice.

: In December, my boyfriend and I signed a year lease on a one bedroom apt. in Park Slope Brooklyn. The Rider to the Lease states that the lease is renewed on a monthly basis and that if either the tenant or landlord wish to terminate the lease prior to actual lease termination that a 30 day notice is needed. Is it necessary to have a lawyer type up the letter? We are moving out because their are too many problems with the apartment--not enough hot water, faulty wiring, and holes in the wall (caused by the landlord).
