According to the New York City Rent Guidelines Board, you would be entitled to a renewal lease in your own name, with a normal renewal increase, if your husband agrees that he no longer wants to be on the lease.

See the RGB's webpage, Roommate Issues & Leases,
at http://housingnyc.com/questions/faq/roommate.html, or click on the link below.

While the webpage's title refers to roommates, it also addresses co-tenant issues and lease renewals.

:
: I live in a rent stablized building in manhattan. There are 17 floors and the building was built in the 60's I think. Our building was sold to new owners recently.

: My estranged husband helped me get an apt by signing my lease because my credit isn't so good. This was 3 years ago. I am on the lease too. Can I take him off the lease without losing my apt? Can they do a new credit check on me? Can they raise my rent to changing the lease?

: Thanks.
