LANDLORD RESPONSIBILITIES

Posted by JENNIFER on March 20, 2000 at 03:09:13:

WE LIVE IN CHELSEA, IN AN OLD RENT STABILIZED APARTMENT. WE HAVE BEEN HERE FOR 2 YEARS, WITH A LEASE. SINCE THE FIRST MONTH THAT WE MOVED IN OUR UPSTAIRS NEIGHBORS BEGAN COMPLAINING TO THE MANAGMENT COMPANY ABOUT THE NOISE COMING FROM OUR APARTMENT. THE THING IS, WE DON'T MAKE MUCH NOISE AT ALL.NOW WE HAVE A NEW DOWNSTAIRS NEIGHBOR WHO JUST BEGAN COMPLAINING ABOUT US WALKING! SO WE NOW TAKE OFF OUR SHOES ALL OF THE TIME, AND HE IS STILL COMPLAINING. OBVIOUSLY, AS WE SAW WHEN THEY WERE RENOVATING OUR APT. THERE IS ONLY A LAYER OF SHEETROCK AND A FOOT OF SPACE BETWEEN OUR APARTMENTS. IS THERE ANY SORT OF GROUNDS FOR GETTING A LANDLORD TO INSTALL SOMETHING ADDITIONALLY BETWEEN OUR FLOORS TO AVOID THIS PROBLEM?
