the way to handle an illegal sublet is to call it a ROOMMATE.

tell the landlord, if they ask, that the new person is a roommate.

there is absolutely NOTHING that they can do to you because you are the tenant of the lease.

pay the rent in YOUR NAME ONLY. have the roommate give you the money and you send a check. : )
