What is TEL-LAW?
TEL-LAW is a collection of tape recorded messages written by Oregon lawyers on a variety of legal subjects. This free library of general legal information is as close and private as your own home telephone and is available to everyone as a public service sponsored by the lawyers of Oregon and the Oregon State Bar.The tapes in the library have been written and carefully reviewed for accuracy by attorneys on the Public Service & Information Committee of the Oregon State Bar and by other Oregon attorneys with expertise in specific areas of law. Each tape has been prepared in order to help you better understand a legal problem you may be having; recognize potential legal problems so that you can obtain legal assistance before a problem becomes more serious; understand the judicial system and how it works for you; and know where you can go for help when you need it.
The library consists of nearly 100 tapes with recorded messages from three to eight minutes long. At this time the library also contains 20 topics recorded in Spanish and 9 topics recorded in Vietnamese. In order to use the tape library, you need a brochure listing by number the topics of tapes available. For a complete list of tapes, send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to the Oregon State Bar, Attention: TEL-LAW, 5200 SW Meadows Road, Lake Oswego, Oregon 97035.
