Mediation
What Is Mediation ?
Mediation services, one of the many services offered by Western
Michigan University helps people resolve conflicts related to rental
housing.
The Mediator is a knowledgeable consultant, who attempts to
convert an argument into productive discussion. The Mediator has the
courage to disagree with touchy issues and keeps a sizable file of
current information about rental housing.
The Mediator, after listening to all sides of the dispute, will
document (1) what the issues are, (2) a recommendation for
settlement, and (3) the reasons for the recommendation. The
recommended settlement will be based on what is viewed as fair,
practical, and expedient. Parties to a dispute in mediation do not
waive their right to pursue a legal settlement.
